The Whole Story

50 years ago, Ron White and Steve Cooke met in Deer Park, Texas while mining a sand pile for bits of red clay. They have been best friends ever since.

On September 17, 1986, Ron White walked into a The Funny Bone for the first time to perform four minutes of stand up comedy in Arlington, Texas. Nervous, he walked straight to the bar and ordered a beer and a shot of Tequila. Alex Reymundo, Margo's brother, handed him that beer and Tequila. Little did they know that they would become great friends and would spend decades together touring as successful comedians and have the time of their lives. They called it the "Joy To The World Tour."

Later in 1987, Alex convinced Ron to go see his little sister's all-girl, all original, rock band, "Debutante" at J-Gilligans Pub. A reluctant Ron walks in and sees a 19 year old Margo on stage, on her knees, in a little leather mini-skirt, belting out a rock song. She was the sexiest thing he had ever seen!

Now, here's how Ron operates, when he sees something he likes, 23 years later, he asks her brother for her phone number. She didn't even see it coming. After less than a year together, Ron asked Margo to be his partner for life.

On June 14, 2009, Margo Rey performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival at The Hollywood Bowl with legendary Latin-Jazz composer, pianist and arranger, Oscar Hernandez.

The following day, Ron and Margo boarded a first class flight on Air France to Paris where Ron asked Margo to be his wife and gave her a stunning engagement ring. The two of them cried tears of joy as she accepted and all in the first class cabin, applauded. It was on that same flight that Margo began writing her song "Let The Rain" which she later finished with dear friend, John Oates. Margo said "Yes!" Ron was thrilled and "Let The Rain" became a hit with 21 weeks on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts.

Now that's romance.
