Other Hotels

For your convenience, book your stay within the “Dallas Art’s District” neighborhood. That is where the event is taking place. If you do this, renting a car for the weekend may not be necessary and getting around will be much easier. You can take the free M-Line Trolley, short taxi rides or leisurely walks.

If you are flying in, you will however, need to arrange your transportation to and from the DFW airport which is approximately (20 miles) a 35 minute car ride in good traffic conditions. The average taxi fare is $50.00 each way.

Things To Do in Dallas

Arts and Museum District

The Dallas Arts District is a 68-acre, 19-block area of art heaven, comprised of museums, concert halls, churches and restaurants. A 30-year plan in the making.

The district is anchored by the massive Dallas Museum of Art and also contains the small but excellent collection at the intimate Crow Collection of Asian Art. Public Art Walk Dallas, starting at Nasher Sculpture Center, 2001 Flora St., is a free self-guided 3.3 mile art walk highlighting 30 pieces of art and architecture in the Arts District and downtown Dallas while promoting a healthy lifestyle through increased awareness and appreciation of public art in downtown Dallas.

A Day in Fort Worth

We highly recommend spending a day in Fort Worth. It is a fantastic representation of Texas culture and the arts. It offers a powerful Museum District and a modern day cowboy culture.

The Modern

The collection of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is comprised of nearly 3,000 objects, including paintings, sculptures, videos, photographs, and prints.  The majority of works in the collection are dated between 1945 and the present. Appropriately, the exhibition during our wedding weekend is called Mexico Inside Out: Themes in Art Since 1990 and we could not be more thrilled that you will be able to partake in a modern bi-cultural experience of Texas and Mexico, as well as the permanent collection.

Our wedding group will receive complimentary exhibition tickets on Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm. Special thanks to our dear friends Suzi Woo and Cornelia Blake: a complimentary private exhibition tour with the Modern’s curator is scheduled for noon on Saturday, October 12. Please check in at the Information Desk and mention the White/Rey wedding.

The Kimbell

Just across the street is the Kimbell Art Museum, with a collection that consists of about 350 works that not only epitomize their periods and movements, but also touch individual high points of aesthetic beauty and historical importance. The Kimbell’s aim is not historical completeness, but the acquisition of individual objects of the highest possible quality as determined by condition, rarity, importance, suitability, and communicative powers. The exhibition during our wedding weekend will be The Age of Picasso and Matisse. The Museum is open 10 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.

Go to the Kimbell members’ line at the box office and mention the White/Rey wedding when you purchase your exhibition tickets to avoid the long public lines. An audio tour to the exhibition is included with your ticket.

The exhibition during our wedding weekend will be The Age of Picasso and Matisse
